Kids Giving Golf a Go

SNAG Ashburton Domain A great day was had at the Ashburton Domain with over 100 children aged 6 and 7 learning golf as part of a Have a Go at Sport day which was organised by Mid Sport Canterbury.   "It was a great opportunity for the children to learn some of the fundamental skills of golf using the SNAG Golf equipment" said Malcolm Wood Aorangi Community Golf Manager.  "The kids had so much fun hitting the ball to the velco targets and then using the launchers for a long drive competition.  We are looking forward to getting golf into more schools in Aorangi...

Four perfect shots in four months at Maungati Golf Club

Maungati H1s Courtesy of the Timaru Herald There must be something magical in the drinks at the Maungati Golf Club. It has been raining holes-in-one over the last few months. Four different golfers have claimed an ace since March. Marty Raharuhi started off the good fortune with his hole-in-one before Bill Flett, Paul Howard and Jimmy Hardgrave followed suit. Results of the Women’s club based competitions, which include the 18 and 9-Hole Home Links and National Teams Championship have been finalised and copies of the full results can be accessed below.  The competitions continue to be well supported with around 10,000 women participating nationally this year. We are again fortunate to have the continued support of our sponsor Srixon and national and district winners, who met the eligibility criteria for a sponsor’s prize, all of whom did this year, can expect to receive Srixon prizes later in the year. Malcolm Wood ready to support Golf Clubs

Malcolm Wood cropped Aorangi's new Community Golf Manager Malcolm Wood will hit the ground running in the Aorangi Region this week, after just moving back from Australia and completing a week of training in Christchurch. Malcolm has a residence in Pleasant Point and will be based out of an office in the Southern Trust Events Centre in Morgans Road. Malcolm's role is to support club capability and golf development in the region. Initially his focus will be around Golf in Schools, junior golf, and getting out to visit clubs. Lowe Cup Winners 16 Jun Pleasant Point LR Mayfield Golf Club hosted what was  a very enjoyable day for the R J Low Cup challenge between Pleasant Point and North Otago yesterday in fine cool conditions with the Pleasant Point team from left, Rosa Westgarth, Heather McKerchar, Diane Sutherland, Heather Mills, Julie Allan and Ali Barrett winning a very closely contested match 4-2 with three games going the full distance to the 18th hole. Frances Mulvey (R J Low Cup Convenor) is presenting the trophy to the victorious Pleasant Point team who will now start their challenges.

Vets Pennant Final Winners 2016 Rakaia LR The Vets Pennants Final was played at Geraldine between Rakaia and Timaru on Friday 27 May. Good winter conditions faced the players on a fine sunny morning at Geraldine.
