Monday 6 November Report NZ Freyberg Masters

The Aorangi masters achieved a very successful first day at Whitford Park, Auckland, with  the first round being a very solid half against Waikato. Great wins from Robbie Bell 6/5, John Smitheram 3/2 and a half to Ray Grant. In the afternoon the team met the strong team from Canterbury and came out with a brilliant win 3/2. wins to Smitheram, Grant and Stills. This has set the team up with confidence to go into the next round on Tuesday against Wellington and a bye in the afternoon. Freyberg Masters - Day 2

7 November 2017

The Aorangi Freyberg Masters men started out well against Wellington and after 14 holes most games were close. Unfortunately the players couldn’t see out their matches with all but Regan Stills having losses.The 3 matches of Miller, Grant and Bell were very tight with 2/1 losses. Tomorrow Aorangi will play Manawatu/Wanganui so a win will be very important to lift the spirits.Nothing is set until the last rounds of this very prestigious event and at this early stage anything can happen.  All teams have a rest round on Wednesday afternoon. Aorangi will play Taranaki and Auckland on Thursday.

Womens South Island Interprovincials

Aorangi Womens SI Interprovincial Team 2017 LR The Aorangi Women’s South Island Interprovincial team played at the Balmacewen Golf course in Dunedin on the weekend. With beautiful weather and a challenging golf course the weekend was a good lead up to the up and coming Toro Interprovincials in Whangarei for the team from left, Pauline Bell, Anne Seed, Sharon Bradford, Jessica Shearer, Angela Mowbray, Ginny Bolderston, Kathryn Baker and Judith Yates. Aorangi vs Canterbury Country

The Annual  Aorangi vs Canterbury Country representative fixture was held at Hororata on Sunday 29 October in sunny, calm weather and the course in excellent condition. The singles and reverse singles format across all divisions Seniors, Masters and Intermediates were all very competitive. The Seniors finished all square with Aorangi winning the singles 6-2 and Canterbury Country winning the reverse singles 6-2 for an 8-8 result. The Masters couldn’t be separated either halving both their singles 3-3 for a 6-6 result and the Intermediate singles were halved 3-3 with Canterbury Country edging the Aorangi team in the reverse singles 4-2 to give Canterbury Country...

R J Low Cup Success for Fairlie

Lowe Cup Winners Fairlie 29 Oct 17 LR Fairlie won the R J Low Cup on Sunday at the Fairlie Golf Club successfully defending their fifth challenge in a close match against Geraldine 3.5 - 2.5. The Fairlie team of, back row Denise Biggs, Averil Anderson and Jo Lane. Front row Shelley Dobson, Marie Anderson and Lyn Dobson are pictured with the trophy. The next R J Low Cup match will be between Maungati and Timaru.

Women's National Homelinks Competition

Aoteoroa Cup Winner 2017 LR2 Presentations were made yesterday at the Women's Champion of Champions to Trish Hollows, North Otago for winning the National Homelinks Aoteoroa Cup.     Trish is pictured left receiving her prizes from Shona Bensemann, Aorangi Women's Match Committee.                            Fay McNab and Ruby McMurtrie, Waitoa Park were also presented with their prize and trophy for finishing 12th in the National Homelinks Nancy MacCormack Foursomes.
