Last Sunday we held our first Junior Golf Tournament of the year for both Handicap & Non-Handicap golfers at the Pleasant Point Golf Club. The weather gods overplayed their part by producing very hot conditions for a field of 29 golfers, and the little ones were mostly happy to see the clubhouse at the end of their nine holes of Ambrose to refresh themselves. It was a great turnout to see our aspiring golfers of the future aged from 6 – 15 years take their skills to the course in the teams’ event. Watching these juniors on the course was a pleasure, and they did themselves proud with the scores they produced.
Playing in Teams of 3, our budding golfers adopted team names for the day, with Team 2 taking out 1st place followed by Tigger, Pooh & Piglet, Tee Smashers, The Avengers and The All Stars.
In my eyes, they were all winners as they were prepared to give it a go, with this being the first time for them in a Tournament. A big thank you to the parents and supporters who encouraged the players through the nine holes.
The Handicap section had 12 players vying for overall honours over 18 holes in conditions that would produce good results. From left, Hamish Scarsbrook came in with a Gross 73 to win over the field, with Jessica Shearer and Benjamin Crozier taking out the Net with a 69.
A special mention to Grace Scarsbrook and Jessica Shearer, our 2 promising junior girls that played in the field alongside the boys, with Jessica shooting a Gross 79 and finishing 3rd overall.
I look forward to the next Tournament scheduled for the next holiday break, with details that will be on this website by the end of February.
My thanks to the Pleasant Point Golf Club and staff that assisted with having food and refreshments available at the completion of the round, this certainly went down well with all our golfers and supporters.
