Day 2 Toro Women’s Interprovincial Wednesday 5th December.
Our team came up against the strong North Harbour team first up. Conditions were slightly windy but perfect for golf.
All matches went to the last few holes with Aorangi unable to shut out on games. It seems that the team are extremely competitive over the first nine but much to their frustration cannot keep up the momentum. However Lynda Brown, playing at four managed a good victory 4/3.
Playing a very experienced Northland team in the afternoon the Aorangi girls felt confident they could find the precious three wins needed to have a team victory.
Jessica Shearer was rested and Kathryn Baker came in at five to replace her. Knight, Gerken, Brown and Baker all had games that see sawed, but once again they could not finish out the win. Bolderston had a disappointing performance against Kylie Jacoby at number two due to a back injury. She will be having a rest game on Thursday.
The Aorangi team, due to a low finish the year before have the toughest draw, with three days of two rounds each day and no bye until the Friday. Many of the afternoon games come up against teams that have had a bye in the morning. This makes for a very challenging tournament, but they still keep up a good positive presence on the course and all play some excellent golf.
They will all be looking for at least one team win against either Tasman or Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay on Thursday.
