The Aorangi girls had a very successful day against Tasman and Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay.
In the morning the team of Catherine Knight, Angela Gerken, Linda Brown, Jessica Shearer and Kathryn Baker played a strong Tasman side. Tasman at this stage of the tournament were winless, although many of their games only being lost 3/2. Knight had a close game coming down to a half when Neale birdied the 18th.
Gerken had a tough match against Eve Clarke losing 4/3. This left the tail to perform and they did brilliantly. Wins to Baker and Shearer assured the team of a half. A thrilling finish and for the team the possibility of coming off the bottom of the table.
In the afternoon Bolderston came back in at 2 and Baker returned to reserve/super caddy.
Playing Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay the team had a good chance of coming out of this with a win.
However things did not look great for Knight and Gerken, Knight struggling with a back complaint and Gerken not able to make a difference in the strong, windy conditions. But once again the tail of Shearer and Brown came in with awesome wins on the last hole.
Coming down the 18th against Janie Field, Bolderston had kept her game to square after a huge putt on the 17th. A wayward drive looked like the team would come out with a loss. But a superb shot into the 18th green meant both her and Field were putting for birdie and a win. Both 2 putted and the team result was a half.
Two halves in the one day will now see their playoff for positions dependent on the outcome of Tasman vs Northland on Friday.
