2008 Presidents Day held at Geraldine Golf Course, Friday
14 November 2007
The
Aorangi South Canterbury
Association’s annual President’s Cup event was held at the
Geraldine Golf Club on Friday 14 November. Although
a small field took part, fine warm conditions made for a
pleasant outing.
At the after match dinner, Association President
Rob Phiskie, outlined the procedures which had led to the
amalgamation of the men’s and women’s games in the district and
he expressed the hope that the two former separate organisations
would work together towards forming a successful governing body.
He paid tribute to those of both the old
associations who had worked together to bring about the
amalgamation.
Rob also spoke of the contribution made to the
Association by Campbell Paton.
During his years on the Association, Campbell
had played a major role in compiling the annual programme.
In his speech, Rob welcomed the General Manager
of Canterbury Golf, Doug McSweeney. Replying,
Doug said he believed there were mutual benefits in our
associations working more closely.
Rob also recognised the presence of life members
Barry Forrest and Stuart Martin.
