Stylemaster Tray - Pleasant Point Golf Club, 21 May 2009.
The Pleasant Point Women’s Golf Club hosted this years Stylemaster Tray Tournament on the 21st May in cool clear conditions.
With the course in excellent condition nineteen clubs from the region were represented.
The Stylemaster Tray was won by Gleniti – Carole Brand, Jenny Crawford, Judy Taylor & Jeanette Clough with a combined nett of 149.5.
The Methven Jug which is presented to the pair with the best nett score not in the winning team was won by Marion Wederell & Val Bell from Rakaia  with a nett of 71.5
The teams of Rakaia, Timaru and Geraldine were second equal with a nett of 151.5
Other scores: Waimate 153.5, Tinwald 157.5, Highfield 158, Mayfield 159.5,
Temuka 159.5, North Otago 160, Grande Vue 162, Pleasant Point 162, Ashburton 162
and Lower Waitaki 162.5.

Aorangi South Canterbury Business Women’s Golf Tournament
Results of the Aorangi South Canterbury Business Women’s Tournament held on Sunday 3 May 2009 in warm sunny conditions at Gleniti with 34 members from Highfield, Timaru, Pleasant Point, Tinwald, Maungati, St Andrews, Geraldine, Ashburton, Temuka & Gleniti.

Winner of the JC Templer Trophy
(Best Nett), with a score of 92-20-72, was Rose Allison from Highfield.

2nd Grade: Best nett Shona Benseman on c/b 97-20-77; 2nd nett Anne Newman 106-29-77; 3rd nett Bernie Carter 116-37-79; 1st Stableford Phillipa Robertson 32 points; 2nd Stableford Sue Haynes 31 points.

Kerr Cup Results - 1 May 2009

Players from around South Canterbury recently took part in the Timaru Ladies Golf Club’s invitation day for the Kerr Cup, which was first presented by Mrs E G Kerr in 1937 for a nett medal aggregate competition. 

With 22 of the 24 eligible Clubs participating, fine weather and the course in excellent condition some good golf, resulting in low scores were the order of the day.  

Winners of the Kerr Cup were Kurow - B Hayman 68, J Black 77, J Graham 68, and C Nowell 71 with a 284 aggregate. 

Runners up Temuka  - 288 - F Mulvey 69, R Walker 68, R Jones 75, N Dyson 76.  Gleniti – 292 – R Cowles 65, S Kenton 80, J Welsh 74, S Edginton 73.

Other good scores:-  Timaru 1 295; St. Andrews 299; Tokarahi 305; Pleasant Point 306;  Fairlie 307, Mayfield, Rakaia, and Timaru 3  308; North Otago, Timaru 3 309.

Two’s:- J Pangborn, K Gill, H McMullen, T Wilson and J Walker.


Judith Small of Waimate (pictured right) won the National Aoteroa Cup with a Nett Differential of -11.8.


End of year Wind-up and Presentations.
50 women attended the Wind-up and Presentation day held at the Gleniti Club House on Friday 21 November.

The day started with 9 holes of golf for those who wished to play, and one of them was a Life Member Cath Daniel from North Otago. (Pictured right)


Seven ex Presidents and four ex Secretaries were also present.


A delicious finger food Luncheon was then enjoyed by all before the presentations.

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation to Patricia Hayman (pictured left) who received recognition for her dedication of 52 years to all facets of the game and  its administration especially in the course rating where she is still convenor.

The other highlight being the New Zealand winner of the Aotearoa Cup in the Home Link Event.   Judith Small of Waimate was 11.8 the best in New Zealand.
