St Andrews Golf Club turned out a well prepared course for the Aorangi Men’s Pennants finals on September 18. Congratulations to all the teams that made the finals. The course was in great order with greens that were true and fast and in the battle for the Holmes Cup it was the Tinwald team that handled conditions best on the day. The Ashburton based team proved too strong for fellow Mid Canterbury team Rakaia winning 2-0 in the final.

Some other notable performances were the two victories decided on the last hole in sudden death playoffs and the efforts of the young Pleasant Point golf team, that featured teenagers Daniel Kelliher, Benjamin Crozier and 12-year-old Alex Kelliher. It has been a good season for the young players with consistent performances that were rewarded with their win in the Patterson Cup.
