Update on our team at the NZ Golf Womens Interprovincials

Posted by: on 8 December 2019

The last day of the NZ Golf Womens Interprovincials has ended with a brilliant win to Auckland over Manawatu/ Wanganui.
In very windy conditions all other teams outside the semi-final pairings were to play off for places.
The Aorangi team played Waikato for 7th place.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t Aorangi’s day, losing 4 -1.
The 8th position was an awesome effort for the girls.
Thanks to all our Association members for their support of our Interprovincial teams and to Trust Aoraki for their generous grant to assist us in sending our teams to these NZ Golf events.
And also to Bridgestone and Pure NZ for sponsorship of Aorangi Golf.

The third day at the NZ Golf Womens Interprovincials was to see the Aorangi team come up against Hawkes Bay and Auckland.
It was always going to be a close match against the home team but the girls managed to come away with a half. Good wins from Baker and Knight. The deciding match came down to the number 2 s Angela Gerken and veteran Hawkes Bay rep Janie Field. The game-tying on the 18th. Exciting stuff.
In the afternoon the team came up against the defending champs Auckland, who have had no individual losses.
For our players to get past the 15th hole was the aim of management.
Three players lost on the 14th.
Knight lost 2 and 1 after playing some amazing golf.
Bolderston had her best result of the tournament with a close match ending 3 and 2 against number 1 for Auckland, Vivian Lu.
The girls are looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
Saturday could see them playing off for 7th and 8th.
Wednesday at the Women’s Interprovincial's in Napier had Aorangi playing Man/Wang in the morning and Otago in the afternoon.

The Man/ Wang team is a very strong team and at this stage in the tournament were unbeaten.
Our girls all played well with 3 matches ending on the 16th with losses.
Catherine Knight had the sole win at number 3.
The afternoon game against Otago was to be a chance for the team to get a team win. And win they did !!!
Awesome victories from Knight, Baker and Brown and a close match to go one down for Gerken.
The team now sits at third in their pool with the Thursday matches been against Hawkes Bay and Auckland.

A win against Hawkes Bay would put the icing on the cake for a team that is going to have a pool result better than any Aorangi women’s team for many years.
Auckland will be a tough one as this team has not dropped a game at this stage.
The first day of the NZ Golf Provincials was held at the Maraenui GC in Napier.
The Aorangi team of Ginny Bolderston, Angela Gerken, Catherine Knight, Lynda Brown and Kathryn Baker had an awesome start to their tournament with a victory over Taranaki.
Wins to Gerken, Knight and Brown and a half by Baker produced an excellent result 3 1/2 to 1 1/2.
In the afternoon the team came up against a strong line up from Wellington. Lynda Brown had the sole win. Conditions were very tough and windy but still our girls fought well.
Catherine Knight lost on the last hole and Angela Gerken lost 3/1.
Ginny Bolderston came up against the strong Darae Cheng whose driving distance was phenomenal and went down 4/3.
The team are in good spirits and should be commended for their fighting attitude in very trying conditions.
Tomorrow the team will come up against a tough Manawatu / Wanganui team in the morning. In the afternoon they will have a more even match up against Otago.
Another team win will help our team ranking.
